The Official GPA Formula in Pakistan & How We Calculate It

Our calculator uses the universally accepted weighted average formula, but the key to its accuracy is adapting the Grade Points and Academic Rules based on the university you select.

Absolute Grading

For universities like PUCIT or Karachi University, the tool uses a fixed scale where a percentage (e.g., 85%+) always equals a specific grade ('A').

Relative Grading

For institutions like NUST that grade "on a curve," we disable percentage input. You just select the final letter grade you were awarded.

Course Repetition Rules

The tool knows that most universities use the best grade, but for specific cases like FAST NUCES, it correctly uses the most recent grade.

How to Use This Calculator

Select Your University: This is the most important step. Choose your university to load its specific grading rules. If it's not listed, select "GPA Calculate based on HEC Rules".

Enter Previous CGPA (Optional): If you want to calculate your new overall CGPA, enter your current CGPA and the total credit hours you've completed so far.

Add Your Courses: For each subject, enter its Credit Hours and final Grade. To calculate GPA from marks in Pakistan, simply enter your percentage in the '%' field, and our tool will automatically convert it to the correct letter grade for your university.

Mark Repeat Courses: If you've repeated a course this semester, check the "Repeat" box. This tells the calculator to replace your old grade with the new one according to your university's specific policy.

Understanding Grading Terms

Withdrawal. Does not affect GPA.

Incomplete. Becomes 'F' if not completed.

P / S

Pass / Satisfactory. Not included in GPA.

F / XF

Fail. Counts as 0.00 points in GPA.
